Few too many threads about aspenwood afk leeching and botting, so I went ahead and merged them. It's a valid problem, but not one that warrants three separate threads on the first page.

NOTICE: I'd quote more, but the merging broke and I cant see anything past page 2

God FORBID someone actually have to think a situation out and come up with valid points inorder to be seriously heard.

Wait...Skip That...its GREAT that its like that. So basically every little crybaby that had his precious item taken or his precious mission ruined doesn't get as much attention as someone that took the extra time to sign up and make valid points and argue those points...

Currently if you don't participant in a battle you don't get any experience or item drops.
These Missions =/= PvE.

In PvP style play, you get all the rewards even if the people died miles away from you.

lol I saw one of those constant healing bots spamming orison+sig of reju. the entire battle.

That's what I'm hoping for... More players to out number the leechers and bots. At the moment, with few players, you usually end up with the same leecher(s) game after game. With more players, one should hopefully not have leecher(s) game after game. You may still end up with them, but at best, not as often.

Hmmm... Faction points = Jadeite/Amber = Gold = Leechers/Bots

I wonder how many people would still play this map if the link between Jadeite/Amber to Gold was removed from the game...

It may be simple but it might have a major drawback that roots in the fact that it is perfectly within anyones right of use (read the EULA) to "leech" and by banning these people ANet would be the one breaking the agreement and that might have legal consequences.

... SIMPLE ohhh not enough ADMINS? I am certain their are plenty of people happy to do the job.
Assigning endusers as admins with the power to ban other players is begging for abuse.

I had mentioned this problem in another thread a couple of days ago. I hate to speak bad of Anet, because compared to other companies I genuinely think they care about their customers alot more.

But when I logged in and saw this event coming up I thought that's just ridiculous. They choose the worst place for this event and they are effectively helping to attract more afk leeching. And it's not just aspenwood it's all over in missions.

I think it's one of the biggest problems in Guild Wars. Of course it's not Anet's fault, but they could take more measures to prevent it. Or give the player the ability to.

My personal suggestions to lower leeching:

- Finally add an option to kick party members in game.
- Make leeching a banable 'offence'. Change the eula/terms of agreament and make everyone agree to it after downloading the latest update. No legal consequences. WoW makes you agree to a new one everytime after a patch, not that hard to do unless im missing something.
- Make these areas like other areas - able to form parties, so that when an individual is leeching constantly he gets a bad rep and known to groups - harder to get in a party.

Not sure if this belongs in THIS topic...but it's relevant.

(How many times can you mispell "Kurzick?")

The locations seem to be reversed, though. (i.e. You click to go to Jade Quarry, you go to Aspenwood and visa versa)

The last message is so PvE characters don't cheat the campaign.

how about enabling a feature that autopunts for non-random behavior in the pvp areas? from my understanding, bots generally follow a certain pattern while leechers follow no pattern whatsoever. i've never meet a live person that presses the same keys on the keyboard in the same pattern while in pvp. i dont know how hard it would be to code something like that, but it would eliminate your bot and leecher problem.

Things look pretty normal to me, atleast on Euro server. Or actually, there's more people playing than afking it seems, than normally that be.

Only problem is... "Let's mess up some luxon teams!"/"Let's mess up some kurzick teams!"-idiots, who enter the game, leave the game, enter the next game, leave, enter the next, eating off that one player slot. If someone quits, they should be just replaced on the fly with next peep in the line, imo. Bzzz.

Default Fort Aspenwood Leeching

This has become a major problem. I have been in a few games where theres more leechers than players. Cause why work when you can get the faction free? This really needs to be addressed. HA/GvG are not the only pvp that people play. Couldnt you make it to where if youre not participating you dont get the faction? I know you do that for PvE to where if youre not close enough you dont get xp.

Also if this matters at all heres a list of major offenders of this.
Names removed: We're not a blacklist site.

there are others but these guys are an everyday thing. I manage to get atleast 1 of them per day.

I love playing in Aspenwood but not when the leechers outweigh the players.

Also on a different note. There are people who really abuse a glitch in aspenwood. They purposely target the Luxon warrior npcs and run them to certain areas in the map to get them stuck so the turtles will never respawn. Please fix this as well.

Heres an idea: Anyone that goes afk and stay in/near the starting area for extended amounts of time gets zapped and dies.

OR...

Just make it so that no one in/near the starting area gains exp/faction. Then they won't lose survivor, but they won't be able to leech for more of it either. Seems fair I think.

Solution: ban the leechers. Of course, Anet prefer powerless nerfs to actually doing something about cheating. I had six leechers in Aspenwood the other day ffs, 'unaware of the depth of the problem' my ass.

We've been through a release of the next chapter, with GWEN and GW2 on the horizon, I really doubt there is going to be anything done about it.

Ideas have been brought up many times, some pretty good, but nothing has been done about it. Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry, and the Alliance Battle arenas are unfortunately stuck with afker's and leechers.

Leeching in places like Aspenwood has been an issue since Factions came out, an ArenaNet has made it clear they don't care (I too reported dozens and dozens of people, even the same people day after day, and they didn't care). Even Gaile once said that she didn't see leeching as a problem. So if the Customer Relations person doesn't think it's an issue if people want to leech and ruin the game play for people who actually want to play legitimately and enjoy it, then we are more than screwed when it comes to expecting them to ever do anything to fix it. Seems more and more these days that ArenaNet cares less and less about the player's enjoyment of the game, just so long as they get their money (problem is, they are driving people away and that's going to cost them a lot, and more as time goes on).

Wow thread res.

And if nothing's been dealt with already, then it's most likely that nothing's going to change.
